GSN Email Marketing

As part of the Giant Store Network (GSN), your store has access to a free monthly email marketing program.

(plus all the support you need to get the most out of it)

How does the program work?

At the beginning of each month, you will receive a basic info pack, which includes all the details you need to participate in the program for that month.

The info pack outlines current Giant Australia promotions, as well as some suggested/topical content (product releases, news, events, etc.), to help you get started.

Then, all you need to do is choose the minor piece of content you would like to focus on for the month (either from the suggested list, or your own store activity). An EDM (electronic direct mail) campaign will then be custom designed, built and scheduled for you that will feature both a major promotional piece from Giant Australia, as well as your local content.

You retain complete control of your contact list and must approve all local EDM content before it can be sent to your customers.

The GSN Email Marketing Program is provided free of charge by Giant Australia to GS stores.

Why does this matter to your business? Simply put, an effective email marketing program puts your message in front of existing and potential customers in the format they prefer. It is the most effective channel to convert leads into customers, whilst also enabling you to turn once-off buyers into loyal community members.

How much time does it take?

We know you’re busy. So the GSN Email Marketing Program has been designed to take up as little of your time as possible. At a minimum, all you need to do is select an option from the provided list for your minor content piece and approve the design/campaign. That’s it – only a few minutes of your time. We do all the rest.

If you want to get a little more involved, that’s fine too. You can integrate your monthly EDM with existing store activities (local promotions and events, for example), and use the additional resources and tools provided to help grow your list of subscribers. Who manages this program?

The GSN Email Marketing Program is managed by The Department, in partnership with Giant Australia. While you will deal directly with The Department to deliver the program for your store, Giant Australia receives regular reports and updates.

Do I have to take part every month?

No. You can opt in and out of the program on a month-by-month basis to suit your schedule or workload.

What do I need to get started?

Once we receive your initial submission (using the form above), we will get in touch to organise everything we need to get you started. This usually revolves around 2 things – a Mailchimp account and an existing subscriber list. We can help you set up a Mailchimp account if you don’t have one, and organise to import any existing subscriber data you have. Once this is all up and running, we can start sending campaigns to your list.

Are there any costs involved?

Your monthly EDM is provided free of charge by Giant Australia. Your only out-of-pocket expenses are your Mailchimp subscription (pricing information available here) and any incurred costs in managing and/or growing your list(s). For example, you might use an iPad kiosk to attract new subscribers, or do a monthly giveaway to encourage people to provide their details.

Why do I need to choose an item each month?

Each EDM campaign is broken down into two parts – a major and a minor content piece. The major piece is the focus of the EDM and is set by Giant Australia. It might feature a new product release, product showcase or a major promotion. The minor piece can thought of like a banner ad, a simpler piece of content that might feature a product special, job vacancy or upcoming local event. The minor piece is selected by you.

Can I feature my own content?

Absolutely! While you will receive a monthly information pack with a range of content suggestions, you are always welcome to add your own custom content to the mix for your minor piece. You might like to feature an upcoming store promotion or sale, a local event, or anything else you would like to share with your audience.
